This Nikon 180mm f2.8 Nikkor-P is a moderate telephoto lens with a fast f2.8 maximum aperture. An ideal lens for photojournalism or sports photography. This lens grants the photographer a decent amount of "reach" when needing to photograph subjects that cannot be approached closely. The fast f2.8 aperture allows the camera to maintain the higher shutter speeds crucial to insuring crisp, shake-free images.
This lens was originally a Non-AI lens but has been factory converted to be compatible with Nikon AI cameras. It has an aperture ring with dual sets of aperture numbers for cameras that display selected aperture in viewfinder. It is still backward compatible with Non-AI Nikon cameras.
